In Cloud's next release you may notice that the SCORM Cloud website is moving to a new home under the domain app.cloud.scorm.com
. This change will add an extra layer of security to prevent potentially malicious e-learning course content from accessing your user account on the website.
The SCORM Cloud team has been working hard over the past few weeks to ensure that this domain update can roll out with out any negative or unexpected side effects for our users. This article hopes to answer some of the questions you may have about this change and how it will impact your website use and API integrations.
What does this change mean for me?
If for any reason you've previously needed to add cloud.scorm.com
to your networks allow list, now would be a good time to go ahead and add app.cloud.scorm.com
to that list!
For the rest of our customers, this domain change will likely go entirely unnoticed. For instance, all website traffic to the old domain cloud.scorm.com
will be redirected to app.cloud.scorm.com
. This means that any bookmarks to the SCORM Cloud website will still work and any public or private invitation links you've shared with your learners will continue to function properly.
If it's been a while since you last signed in, you may need to sign in again when this change rolls out as your session cookies for the old domain will no longer be valid. If you can't remember your password, fret not! Check out this article on how to update your password.
Will I need to make changes to my API integration?
Nope! If you've built an integration with SCORM Cloud's API this update won't require any code changes on your end. Although the website domain is changing, the base URL for all of SCORM Cloud's API methods will continue to be https://cloud.scorm.com/api/v2
.
Everything API related should continue to function exactly as it does now. If you have scripts to automate actions on the website directly however (rather than through one of Cloud's API methods), then you may need to update them to point to the new domain.
When can I expect this change?
You can expect this change to roll out as early as June 20th, 2022. The release will be accompanied by a formal release notes article so be on the lookout for that. If you haven't already, you can follow our Release Notes Section to receive automatic email notifications whenever we post release notes!
