We recently rolled out a limited beta version of our new user interface (UI) for our users to test out. We’re hoping to get your feedback as we continue to refine our ideas and rebuild other parts of the product.

How to join?

You can join the beta using the “Try beta now” button in your regular, legacy SCORM Cloud UI. If you’ve already opted out through the banner, you can join the beta through your user settings in the legacy UI.

Once you’ve joined the limited beta, you’ll be able to switch back and forth between the beta and legacy UIs using a link in the banner at the top of the page.

What’s available?

This is a partial and limited beta. You’ll be able to complete some key SCORM Cloud tasks in the beta UI, but for others, you’ll need to return to the legacy UI. Right now, we’re focused on the parts of SCORM Cloud relating to uploading, managing, and testing courses. The following features are available in the beta UI:

  • Upload one or multiple files and links to your Library
  • Manage your Library by tagging or deleting courses
  • Search and filter the Library
  • View and edit course details
  • Sandbox launch courses, view debug logs, and reset sandbox progress
  • Version courses
  • Switching applications

And look for the ability to manage course properties to come soon!

Features that aren’t available in the beta UI will be greyed out and non-interactive. These are still evolving in development and will be brought to the beta at a later time.

The limited beta UI is separate from the existing legacy UI, so you’ll continue to have full access to all existing features and functionality there and can switch back and forth anytime you want. Note that you cannot switch realms in the beta UI. To view applications in another realm, you’ll need to switch realms in the legacy UI and then return to the beta UI.

What’s different

One of our primary goals is to bring more logic, clarity, and consistency to SCORM Cloud’s UI. For this reason, you might see some changes in how things are organized and where certain features or functionality are placed in the beta UI. For the most part, they should be pretty obvious and easy to figure out, but here are a few key differences we wanted to point out:

  • Navigation: We’re updating the navigation bar to include every major section of SCORM Cloud so you can get to where you need to more easily. No more digging through other pages to find links to reports or destinations.
  • Applications: SCORM Cloud has a clear, logical organization (Realm > Application > Course) that isn’t clearly represented in the legacy UI. We’re making this more apparent in the beta UI, starting with moving the component for switching applications to a new, top navigation bar and adding a component for switching realms (not yet available in the beta UI) next to it. When you move through SCORM Cloud’s new user interface, you’ll move from the Realm level, to the Application level, to the Course level.
  • Course Details: To make this page easier to digest and use, we’ve broken the content up into tabs. This should decrease loading times and scrolling and help you focus on specific tasks more readily.
  • Home Page: The beta UI doesn’t currently have a home page. We’re still working on what a home page might look like and how it would best fit into the structure of SCORM Cloud.
  • User Settings: These now live in a menu in the top right corner of the page.

Switching between UIs

Once you join the beta, you’ll see a beta banner at the top of the page in both the beta and legacy UIs. This banner contains a link that allows you to switch UIs whenever you want, without needing to log in again.

You can hide the beta banner when you don’t need it by selecting the “X” close button in the upper right corner. To restore the banner, use the “Show beta banner” button in the top bar of both the beta and legacy UIs.

Providing feedback

You’ll find a “Share feedback” button in the beta banner at the top of the page. This button will launch a feedback survey in a new tab. You can complete the survey more than once if you want to provide additional feedback as you continue to use the beta UI.

If you encounter an error while using the new UI, you’ll see a link to an error feedback form. This feedback will help us understand why you encountered an error. If you try your task again and still get an error, we suggest you switch back to the legacy UI to complete your task and submit some feedback through the error feedback form so we can investigate.

Opting out

At any time, you can opt out of the beta by clicking “No thanks” in the banner if you haven’t tried it yet or “Opt out of beta” in the banner if you have.
