Bookmarking and Suspend Data Limitations

Is your course not resuming at the correct point?

We’ve seen this happen before.  You exit a course only to resume at an earlier point.  You may be running into a suspend data limitation….

For SCORM 1.2, the maximum suspend data size is defined at 4096 characters.  Some authoring tools like to use that bucket to store things like bookmarking and interactions.  If you have a big course, you are going to run out of space quickly. Don't fret, we have a package property to help with this very issue.  In the package property editor, on the compatibility settings tab, check to see what "Maximum Suspend Data Size" is set to...if it is 4096, change it to 64000 (the default for SCORM 2004) should fix the issue.

    Hi Ryan,

Can you please explain or refer me to a good source that talks about what these characters actually are? Are they literally characters (letters, numbers, signs, etc.) and if so in which file are they contained? Is there a way for me to check how many characters my course contains?

That's totally dependent on the course production software [or person]. It can be anything.
