Score rollup in SCORM 2004 3rd ed.

Avatar

I have a course I'm trying to implement in SCORM 2004 3rd edition.  The course has two SCOs.  Each SCO has an exam.  The student is required to take either exam, not both.  Completion and Satisfaction rollup works as desired but the overall objectiveMeasureWeight is averaging the two exams.

For example, if the student passes one exam with a score of 100%.  The course is marked satisified, and the Course Status Score is 50%.  My customer would like to see the overall score in that case as 100%.  Is there any way to do this without going to 4th edition?

    Joe,

I'm running into the same issue.  Was a solution found that works for SCORM 2004 3rd edition?

    Hey Chase,

Sorry for the delay in response.  Here was the best option we came up with:

    • You can use a global objective that each test writes to and that is read at the root (or really the top level SCO that has a dummy wrapper around it at the root).  This way, if either test is satisfied, it writes the score to the global.
    • Note that this may require some logic inside the SCO's themselves to keep from overwriting existing scores if there is already a value for that global objective.

I hope this helps.  Please feel free to shoot me an email at support@scorm.com if have some other questions!

    Thank you,

    Joe
