SCORM 2004 and Negative Scores

Avatar

Question

How is it possible to write a negative score (-1 to 1) rather than a normal range of 0 - 1 in a SCORM 2004 course?

Answer

Well, the short answer is that some people wanted it too. Imagine that you had a game that was like Jeopardy. The best player might end up with scores like this:

raw: 12,500
min: -100,000
max: 100,000
scaled: .125

The worst might look like this:

raw: -500
min: -100,000
max: 100,000
scaled: -.005

It just allows for scores that express something other than a traditional percentage.
